Australian Bream Challenge

 The Australian
Bream Challenge for Prostate Cancer is the first ever charity bream tournament held
in Australia. Raising much needed funds for the PCFA (Prostate Cancer
Foundation Australia) all teams entry fees will be donated to the charity to
help find a cure and support those affected by this disease.
This one-day
team's bream challenge now has over $13,000.00 in prizes, the most ever
presented for one day only classic event. Up for grabs is a Blue Fin boat,
Honda motor and Oceanic trailer package to the value of $5,500.00.

Daiwa Glenelg River BREAM Qualifier
|
 On a weekend where Victoria suffered severe weather with strong winds and rain, anglers battled it out on the Glenelg River for the SA AOY and the precious 3 qualifying spots to the Daiwa BREAM Grand Final at Mallacoota later in the year. In a river system with approximately 6-7 metres of fresh water sitting on top of the dense salt water, bream were concentrated towards the river mouth sulking close to the bottom.
In a tight wrestle, Warren Carter claimed victory, ecstatic to win the Lowrance AOY trophy and his second triumph for the 2010 season after Mallacoota earlier in the year. The Shimano sponsored angler used a T-Curve T Series rod matched to a new Stradic 2500 C14 reel spooled with 4lb Berkley Crystal Fireline and 4lb Varivas fluorocarbon leader.

NSW BREAM Classic - Sydney Harbour - Aug 29
|
 Anglers were greeted with a glorious Sydney day for the first of the NSW Bream Classic’s for 2010 and with over $8500 in cash and prizes up for grabs were keen to get it on. Sydney has been fishing tough over the last couple of months and today wasn’t to be any different, but of course there are always those teams that manage to find good fish and those that manage to grind it out for a bag.
In 1st place was Duffrods-Kustom Fishing Tools Nick Reay and Lucas Pratt. The boys were coming off a recent win at the Hawkesbury and are obviously on fire. Fishing flats close to the start put an early fish in the well from between boat moorings but with it being slow they moved into deeper water to blade and picked up another average fish. Another move back to the flat and Lucas remarked to Nick that if he didn’t pull one from a particular boat hull he should take up flathead comps. Nick cast to the hull and was hit by what was to be the tournament winning fish, a 1.625kg horse that took 4 decisive runs under the boat before being netted. The fish came on a 3# gulp minnow 1/32nd jig 2lb microfuse braid & 4lb rockfish leader. Lucas scored an 800gramer on the next cast. The boys completed the bag by 11am using ecogear blades.

Brisbane Boat Show BREAM Invitational- Final Results

 Sunline Shine to Win Brisbane BREAM
Invitational
With a string of former event winners on the start line and
host of young guns keen to shine on one of tournament fishing's brightest
stages it would be a battle of the best to see who could tame Moreton Bay's
legendary bream and be crowned the Brisbane Boat Show BREAM Invitational
Champion for 2010.
With three four kilo plus bags, and four three kilo plus
bags hitting the scales for the weekend, it came down to a no holds bar battle
between three (Team Lowrance, Hobie, & Sunline) on the final day that
decided the winner of one of breaming fishing's premier events.

WA BREAM Classics Rd 4 Results
|
There was a bit of tension in the air at the Bassday round of the ENGEL WA Bream Classic Series 2010 for this was the final chance for teams to qualify for the WA Grand Final and indeed the National Classic Grand Final. There had been a fair bit of rain the night before but a clearing, crisp morning confronted the teams as they gathered at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club for the start of the round.
Prefishing experiences pointed to a hard day at the office and so it proved to be with only seventeen teams troubling the weigh master. Four teams brought full bags to the scales but Team Pirtek (Paul McCullough and Jarrod Steven) took out second place with just three fish amassing a respectable 2.99 kilos they also got the CRC big bream prize of $300 with a fish weighing 1.16kgs. Team WAFM (Ian Sewell & Dror Pietsch) grabbed third place with four bream totalling 2.895kg. However First place belonged to Team River2Sea (Peter DeGroot & Oliver Sear) with a four fish bag attaining 3.205kg.

The entry fee of $220 per team will be a direct donation to the PCFA.

Kris collects a cool $2,000 in bonuses

 It’s turning out to be a year to remember for pro fisherman Kris Hickson.
Fishing in the highly competitive ABT Daiwa BREAM Series, he’s so far scored two wins, had another four Top Ten finishes and has collected a cool $2,000 in Mercury Marine “Bonus Bucks”.
